Tropibio, the Technical University of the Atlantic, GBIF Portugal, and the Higher Institute of Agronomy presents the Advanced training in biodiversity data mobilization in Cabo Verde. The course will run from July 11 to July 15, 2022 in the Institute of Engineering and Marine Sciences, Technical University of the Atlantic, Campus da Ribeira de Julião, São Vicente, Cabo Verde.
This course is designed for students and professionals in Biological Sciences and similar areas who wish to acquire skills in the area of biodiversity data mobilization. The course will allow participants to undertake efforts to acquire and mobilize biodiversity data using the Darwin Core Standards (https://www.tdwg.org/standards/dwc/), a biodiversity information standard widely accepted by the scientific community. internationally, as well as the publication of biodiversity data in the Global Biodiversity Information Facility – GBIF database (https://www.gbif.org/).

The course covers the entire process of mobilizing biodiversity data from collection to insertion into databases to publication. The course are divided into five modules:
M1 - Field and in situ biodiversity data collection;
M2 – Quality of biodiversity data in OpenRefine;
M3 - Georeferencing and mapping of data using the Geolocate tool;
M4 – Publication of biodiversity data in GBIF;
M5 – 5.1 Basic notions about data analysis and map production in R;
5.2 Maps in QGIS;
5.3 The wonderful world of R.
