A new book titled "Ecology of Angola: Terrestrial Biomes and Ecoregions" by Brian John Huntley and published by Springer Nature, Cham, Switzerland is now available.
It provides a comprehensive account of the diversity and vulnerability of Angola's terrestrial ecosystems, drawing on Huntley's personal field observations and 20 years of literature. The open-access book is free and unlimited to access, making it a valuable resource for students and researchers studying Angola's biodiversity. The book addresses the lack of academic resources in Portuguese, which has impeded the development of a new generation of motivated and skilled researchers and technicians.
The book is the result of collaborative initiatives between CIBIO, and its Angolan partners, including the TwinLabs Programme and the UNESCO Chair Life on Land, and is expected to provide the basis for advanced courses in ecology, biodiversity, and conservation at Angolan universities. Huntley's insights contribute to the sustainable management of Angola's natural resources, providing an African perspective on ecology.
