New Book "Strategic Opportunism: What Works in Africa" by Brian John Huntley presents lessons learned from six major conservation and research projects across ten African countries.
This open access book offers a synthesis of successful, sustained projects that illustrate how success can be achieved regardless of a nation's wealth, culture, or systems of governance. The case studies vary widely in their geography and goals, from the rediscovery of the last surviving populations of Giant Sable in central Angola to the conservation of seabirds in a sub-Antarctic island. The book also presents new models of regional collaboration and citizen-science-based projects. "Strategic Opportunism" is part of the book series "SpringerBriefs in Environmental Science (BRIEFSENVIRONMENTAL)" and is available for free and unlimited access. The book is the result of collaborative initiatives between CIBIO, and its Angolan partners, including the TwinLabs Programme and the UNESCO Chair Life on Land.
