News

Claudia Malhado was a monitor at the science dissemination fair "Mostra UP 2023” organized by the University of Porto.   Claudia assisted at the BIOPOLIS/CIBIO-InBIO Association's stand, which aimed to disseminate information about the center's ongoing research activities through various media such as videos, games, and experiments.

The four-day exhibition aimed to offer a comprehensive view of the University of Porto's training programs, which include over 600 programs covering a range of fields, from undergraduate and integrated masters to master's and Ph.D. degrees. The event featured fourteen faculties, a business school, and several national research centers, inviting students of basic and secondary education to discover the different areas of activity and research at the university.

Various activities were show cased in CIBIO stands, for example one of the activities highlighted the various adaptations of birds, such as the morphology of their beaks and wings, and their relationship to their behavior and habitat. Visitors were able to learn about the different forms of beaks and how they can influence the type of food that a bird can eat. They also discovered how the shape of a bird's wing can affect its flight and the resources it can access. Other activities included showcasing the diversity of plant species, and educating visitors about the importance of preserving biodiversity and the impact of human activities on the environment. Additionally, we had quizzes and games, to engage visitors and test their knowledge about the natural world.
