Tropibio team members participated in VII International Environmental Education Congress in Portuguese-Speaking Countries and Communities

Ana Malhado, Luana Santos and Karoline Azevedo from the TROPIBIO project participated in the VII International Environmental Education Congress in Portuguese-Speaking Countries and Communities, held in Maputo, Mozambique from July 4-7, 2023.
The congress was attended by over 500 participants from CPLP countries, including Brazil, Portugal, Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, Timor-Leste and Mozambique.
The congress focused on the theme "Environmental Education: The Key to Sustainability" and featured a variety of sessions on topics such as public policies, citizenship, planetary limits, and diversity. Ana Malhado, Luana and Karoline presented 3 posters and 1 oral presentation. They also met with a number of other researchers and practitioners from the CPLP region to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation on environmental education.
"The congress was a great opportunity to share our work on environmental education with other colleagues from the CPLP region," said Ana Malhado. "We also learned a lot from the other participants and came away with some new ideas for our own work."
Luana added that the congress was "a valuable opportunity to network with other people who are working on environmental education in the CPLP region." She said that she was "inspired by the passion and commitment of the other participants" and that she was "looking forward to continuing to collaborate with them in the future."
Karoline said that the congress "was a great opportunity to learn about the different approaches to environmental education that are being used in the CPLP region." She said that she was "particularly interested in the work that is being done to promote environmental education in schools and communities."
The TROPIBIO project is working to develop and implement a number of environmental education initiatives, including the development of educational games, and public awareness materials.
