Tropibio team visited Tropibio collaborator in Goiânia, Brazil
News
From December 13th to 15th, 2022, Tropibio junior researcher Thainá Lessa, a PhD student, and Associated Researcher Dr. Fernanda Alves-Martins visited Tropibio collaborator Dr. Geiziane Tessarolo at the Laboratory of Biogeography and Conservation of the Federal University of Goiânia in Goiânia, Brazil. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the Biogeographic Ignorance Maps (MoBIs) methodology.
Thainá Lessa, who is supervised by Dr. Richard Ladle, Dr. Ana Malhado, Dr. Fernanda Alves-Martins, and MSc Javier Martinez, is working on her third chapter, Biogeographic Ignorance Maps (MoBIs). During the visit, Dr. Geiziane Tessarolo shared her expertise on the step-by-step process of creating MoBIs, from choosing the most suitable species/taxonomic group to be evaluated, collecting biological and environmental data, cleaning them, and finally creating and interpreting MoBIs.
The meeting was an excellent opportunity for Thainá Lessa and Dr. Fernanda Alves-Martins to learn, apply, and teach others how to use MoBIs effectively. The partnership established during the visit between Thainá Lessa, Dr. Fernanda Alves-Martins, and Dr. Geiziane Tessarolo will strengthen the results of the Tropibio Project and contribute to future publications, advancing biogeography and conservation research.
